Acceptance of these terms
By downloading, accessing, or using Aurora – Morning Miles, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Eligibility and account information
You may use the app only in compliance with applicable law. You are responsible for the accuracy of information you provide in the app, including your display name, email address, accountability partner information, and any subscription or reminder settings you choose to set.
License to use the app
Subject to these Terms, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Aurora – Morning Miles for your personal, non-commercial use.
App features and availability
Aurora – Morning Miles offers habit tracking, reminders, social accountability features, rewards features, and subscription-related tools. Features may change, be suspended, or be removed at any time. Some features depend on Apple services, network connectivity, device compatibility, permissions, or third-party systems outside our control.
Location, notifications, and device permissions
Some features require access to location services, notifications, iCloud, Apple Pay, or other device capabilities. You may decline these permissions, but parts of the app may not function correctly. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access to any feature that depends on those permissions or services.
When a walk is in progress, the app uses background location tracking to continue recording your route and distance even when the screen is locked or the app is backgrounded. iOS will display a blue location indicator while this is active. This tracking stops when you end your walk.
The app also uses the device proximity sensor and audio session during active walks to determine bonus point eligibility. The proximity sensor detects whether the phone is pocketed; the audio session detects whether audio was playing when the walk started. Neither capability records or transmits audio or personal data.
Social and accountability features
If you use invite codes, leaderboards, or accountability notifications, you are responsible for deciding what information to share and with whom. Only add people you trust. We are not responsible for how other users respond to information shared through these features.
When you add an accountability partner and enable notifications for them, that partner will automatically receive a push notification — including your display name — if you have not recorded a morning walk by your set walk time. Your display name is the name you enter in the Social tab. You can change your name or disable notifications for a partner at any time.
Rewards and partner offers
The app includes a rewards catalog where you can redeem points for promotional codes offered by third-party businesses. The catalog is fetched from a CloudKit public database. These codes are subject to the issuing business's own terms and conditions, including any expiry dates, use restrictions, or geographic limitations. Aurora – Morning Miles is not responsible for the availability, validity, or fulfillment of third-party offers.
Points are earned as follows: 5 points per completed walk; 1 point per minute walked; a 10-point bonus for walks started without audio playing; a 15-point bonus for walks where the phone was in your pocket for at least 50% of the duration; a 20-point bonus for completing every day in a calendar week; and a 50-point monthly bonus for winning the monthly leaderboard competition. Restored streak days count toward your streak but do not earn points. Point totals are calculated from your local walk history and may be adjusted if walk data is deleted or the app is reinstalled.
Promo codes have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for currency. Points used to redeem a code are non-refundable once redeemed.
Sweepstakes
The app includes a weekly sweepstakes feature that allows you to spend points to purchase entries for a chance to win a prize. Draws are conducted on a weekly basis. By entering, you agree that your CloudKit user identifier and entry count for that week will be stored in a CloudKit public database and used solely to conduct the draw.
Sweepstakes prizes have no cash equivalent and are not transferable. Odds of winning depend on total entries from all participants that week. The sweepstakes is void where prohibited by law. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the sweepstakes feature at any time.
Payments and subscriptions
The app includes an optional monthly commitment feature. You choose a monthly subscription amount (from $0 to $100) and a walks-per-month goal. If you record enough walks to meet your goal, that month is free. If you miss your goal — or if you set your goal after the first-week lock-in window — you owe the subscription amount for that month.
Cancelling your subscription does not waive payment obligations for months that have already passed. A month in which you locked in your goal late is always owed, regardless of whether you hit the goal.
Online payment processing is not yet active. When it becomes available, payment authorization will be handled through Apple Pay. You are responsible for reviewing the terms presented at the time of any payment.
Acceptable use
You may not use the app to violate any law, infringe another person's rights, interfere with the app's operation, attempt unauthorized access, reverse engineer the app except where prohibited by law, or misuse social, payment, or notification features.
Health and safety disclaimer
Aurora – Morning Miles is a lifestyle and habit-support app only. It is not medical advice, mental health advice, emergency assistance, a safety service, or a substitute for professional care. Always use caution and pay attention to your surroundings while walking or using your device.
Consult a physician or qualified health professional before starting a new exercise program, especially if you have any medical conditions or concerns. Distance, pace, and speed figures shown in the app are estimates based on GPS data and may not be accurate.
No warranty
The app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business interruption arising out of or related to your use of the app.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the app or specific features at any time if we believe you have violated these Terms, created risk for us or other users, or if we discontinue the app or a feature.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date shown in the app. Your continued use of the app after the updated Terms become effective means you accept the revised Terms.
